Shark Vacuum Consumes All Pet Hair in Its Path

Shark Vacuum Consumes All Pet Hair in Its Path

There’s no doubt about it—pets are messy. Most dogs and cats shed fur on a constant basis, with the latter having the added bonus of tracking kitty litter all around the house (especially when they do their notorious high-speed “victory lap” as they vigorously leap out of the box). When it comes to cleaning up after Fido or Fluffy, pet owners know that not every vacuum will suffice.

The Shark APEX DuoClean with Zero-M Corded Stick Vacuum features a dual-brushroll system that is designed to deep-clean carpets and directly engage hard floors. The 10-pound product, which comes with a 5-inch crevice tool, pet multi-tool and precision duster attachments, promises to prevent hair-wrap from occurring around the brushroll. It also transforms into a portable, handheld vacuum that allows users to tackle furniture, stairs and other surfaces.

We decided to try out the brand-new Shark vacuum in the house of Phoebe, one of our test cats. Even though she’s a domestic shorthair, Phoebe still sheds a lot, especially around this time of year when temperatures are on the rise. She is also a messy kitty who takes pleasure in playing hockey with her kibble. Bottom line—she doesn’t necessarily make it easy to keep things clean.

We used the vacuum on the carpet in the den, which is outside the bathroom where Phoebe’s litter box is located and where she rolls around spreading her fur. We appreciated the light weight of the product, which will come in handy when we have to carry it upstairs (although the smaller size did mean that it took a tad longer than a larger vacuum to cover the entire room). We also liked how easy it was to maneuver, especially in hard-to-reach spaces.

The vacuum did an excellent job of picking things up off the floor; we could even hear the sound of all the kitty litter being whisked away by its powerful suction. And we did, in fact, notice that hair did not get wrapped around the brushroll. In addition, we were impressed with its ability to turn into a handheld vacuum, which we used with different attachments on the stairs and couch.

We were extremely satisfied with the performance of the Shark APEX DuoClean Zero-M Corded Stick Vacuum—which became available at retailers nationwide on April 1—and we look forward to using it in the future in other non-carpeted areas of the house.
