Rex Specs are vet-recommended goggles that were developed to provide canine eye protection. With these goggles, which are available in multiple sizes to fit a wide range of breeds, a dog is protected from UV rays, sand and such debris as branches and grass during outdoor activities. Rex Specs are shatterproof, having passed the American National Standards Institute’s test for impact resistance. The goggles come with a clear lens and an additional colored lens, and all lenses are rated UV400, which means they keep out 99.99% of UVA and UVB rays. We tried a pair of large Rex Specs on Vicki, our test dog, with the clear lens. The adjustable straps were easy to adjust, and the soft foam edging provided a comfy fit. Although she was initially puzzled by wearing something over her eyes, it took only a few minutes before she became accustomed to them and was eager to play fetch. The goggles are designed with a large spherical lens to give the dog a full, unobstructed range of view, so a pup like Vicki can stay focused on her target. We had Vicki retrieving a tennis ball on a grass field and even had her running through some brush, and the goggles remained in place and secure. Rex Specs prove to be stylish, high quality and extremely effective outdoor gear for active dogs.
