Pets, especially dogs, can struggle to cope with issues like fear or past abuse, which results in stress. Many dogs are unable to handle situations like thunderstorms, fireworks or other loud events. In addition, it’s common for some dogs to suffer from anxiety due to separation from owners or as the result of health problems such as blindness or other disorders.
The signs most dogs exhibit when they suffer from anxiety and stress are hiding, shaking or trembling, growling, or aggressive and destructive actions.
A natural solution for helping dissuade anxiety in pets is CBD, which is short for Cannabidiol (a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940). CBD is one of the 113 identified cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. Sometimes referred to as hemp oil, CBD oil is the extracted oil of the plant that contains concentrated amounts of Cannabidiol.
While these cannabinoids are soaring in popularity as a way to help treat dogs who suffer from anxiety issues, it’s important to know that CBD oil doesn’t contain THC. CBD oil is known to help build up serotonin levels in animals that can help treat generalized anxiety and situational anxiety. Due to those facts, CBD oil can be given on a regular basis and has been shown to help dogs become well-adjusted in their environment.
Creating a safe place for a dog is important to help them feel secure. Especially in the case of previously neglected animals, providing a predictable daily routine in a comfortable home with a dog bed and regular feeding times can be instrumental to helping ease the dog’s stress and fear. Since these dogs often struggle with fear of abandonment, their owners may choose to incorporate CBD oil to reduce their anxiety when the owner is unable to be near the animal.
FOMO Bones are dog treats named after the term “fear of missing out.” They are made with non-psychoactive cannabinoid that’s derived from all-natural, third-party-tested hemp sourced directly from family-owned hemp farms in Colorado. The CBD treats also contain such premium ingredients as chamomile, valerian root and passion flower. They contain no THC, thus preventing pups from “getting high.”
Each bag contains 20 bones, with one bone containing 5 milligrams of CBD. According to the manufacturer, a small dog (10 to 15 pounds) can have one bone per day. Bigger dogs may have two bones per day. Dogs under 10 pounds can be given half a bone on a daily basis.
To test the effectiveness of FOMO Bones, we contacted the owners of Marlin and Jethro. Jethro is a Boston terrier who is loaded with energy, while Marlin is an American bulldog rescue who suffers from severe separation anxiety. According to their owners, these two pups get stressed when their Mom and Dad go to work or go out to run some errands. The dogs show their anxiety by scratching the front door and trim.
Marlin and Jethro were given FOMO Bones about an hour before their owners would leave the house, and the pooches happily consumed them as yummy treats. And upon returning home, their owners found Marlin and Jethro curled up in their beds. The dogs woke up with wagging tails as they were happy to see their Mom and Dad, but just as important was the fact that there was no new damage to the front door or trim.
Those results have us impressed with the effectiveness of FOMO Bones as a natural way to treat pet anxiety and a dog’s “fear of missing out.”
