The Humane Society of Missouri is dedicated to rescuing animals who are abused, neglected or abandoned. They create lasting relationships between people and animals through adoption, shelter pet behavior programs and by making available world-class veterinary care. These animals are still looking for their forever homes this year.
Daisy (ID#A668891) Unlike her namesake flower, there is nothing ordinary about two-year-old Boxer, Daisy. This lovely lady is a little shy at first, but warms up quickly when her human friends toss around a squeaky toy. She loves to explore, so she is looking for someone who will take her on all their adventures, even if it’s just a stroll around her new neighborhood. Daisy is as sweet as can be and would love to join a family where she is spoiled, loved and cherished forever. Come meet this one-of-a-kind pup today! To adopt: Apply in person at HSMO’s Macklind Ave. headquarters in St. Louis City. Hours and directions at www.hsmo.org Blair (ID#A536687) Blair is a nine-year-old diluted Calico who is looking for a home she can call her own. This beautiful girl “purrfers” to be the only cat in the house, so she can have all the beds, blankets and laps to herself! As she is declawed, Blair’s new owners will need to make sure she stays strictly indoors. Additionally, as she is on the heavier side, Blair needs a family who will partner with their veterinarian to get her back to an ideal weight through gentle exercise and food monitoring. In return for all the TLC, Blair will supply you with endless purrs, head-butts and cuddles. To adopt: Apply in person at HSMO’s Best Buddy Pet Center in Maryland Heights. Hours and directions at www.hsmo.org Oreo (ID#A627220) When you look at two-year-old Oreo, you may be surprised to learn that this cookie-colored cutie is a beagle mix. This short-legged sweetie gets along with other dogs and loves to play with children, but as he has a hunting instinct, he is probably not well-suited around small critters. Oreo already knows sit, lay, retrieve, jump, roll and crawl, so he would do well learning new tricks and commands with an owner at any training level. While at HSMO, he has preferred to do his business outside and has been great walking on a leash. His favorite activities to do with human friends are jogging around the block and chasing flying balls in a game of fetch. After a day full of fun, you will find Oreo settling down with a chew bone next to another one of his soon-to-be favorite things – you! To adopt: Apply in person at HSMO’s Macklind Ave. headquarters in St. Louis City. Hours and directions at www.hsmo.org Cruz (ID#A669294) Cruz is a one-year-old gray and white tabby with big ol’ eyes and a little button nose that’s hard not to fall head over paws for. This little chap loves to explore, popping out to say hello when visitors pass by his window. He came from a place with dogs and cats, so he should do well with other four-legged companions. Cruz is a very sweet guy who just wants to be around a loving family in a forever home he deserves. To adopt: Apply in person at the Humane Society of Missouri’s Best Buddy Pet Center in Maryland Heights. When it comes to housetraining and obedience, Queen prefers to do her business outside and already knows how to sit, stay and come on command. One of her favorite things to do is play, especially with kids, so she would love a forever home where all of her new human friends, both big and small, give her plenty of activity each and every day. This handsome brown brindle and white Whippet mix thrives when he can spend time chasing a tennis ball or jumping up playfully for a hug. He is a fun-loving pup in a big-boy body, so he may be too much for young children. He already knows how to sit on command, so he would do great learning new tricks with the whole family. Hours and directions at www.hsmo.org Lady Asha (ID#A655695) Lady Asha or Lady A, as we call her at the Ranch, is a sweet senior gal. She is looking for a nice retirement home. Lady A can’t eat traditional hay. Due to her advanced age she doesn’t have many teeth remaining to grind up the hay. She maintains a hefty body condition on senior grain and chopped up forage sources, such as beet pulp and alfalfa chops. Lady A is on a daily medication for Cushings and will require daily medication. Lady A has been used in beginner and intermediate walk/trot lessons at the ranch for children as young as seven-years-old. She is a kind, forgiving mare who stays in her gaits well. Her consistency has been beneficial to our lesson kids as they learn to ride the sitting and posting trot. She is responsive and willing. She rides well for both adults and kids. She is confident riding in and out of the arena and takes good care of her riders. She is happy to work and would love a family who could benefit from all she has to teach her riders. Radley (ID#A608452) Radley is an easy going and friendly young gentleman who loves attention, rolling over on his side for some good ol’ belly scratches. Radley has already been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated, so he is ready to go home with a family that will provide plenty of socialization and continued positive training. Along with adequate enrichment, pigs need to receive routine check-ups for deworming, hoof trimming, and vaccinations. To adopt, apply in person at HSMO’s Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in Union, MO.
