Pets Alive is a no-kill animal rescue, located in Middletown, New York, about 1 1/2 hours from New York City. Its mission is to improve the lives of companion animals everywhere by any means possible, including rescue, adoption, advocacy, collaboration, intervention and education. These are some of the cats and dogs available looking for their forever homes.
Annie, originally picked up as a stray in NYC, is one of our special needs dogs here. She is actually deaf, so she does work with our trainers and volunteers with learning hand signals and manners. She is willing to learn, especially for treats! She is a love bug by nature, and is one of our doggie playgroup all stars! Poor Cali – not only was she young and homeless but she was about to become a mother to 5! But a kind stranger found her and brought her to Pets Alive in the nick of time. She gave birth in a foster home and proudly watched as all her babies went to good homes. Now she is read for a home of her own. She needs a little time to warm up – a girl can’t be too careful! But once she does she is very sweet and friendly. Hello my name is Charlene and I am a 10 year old Beagle mix. I love all humans and other animals! I was a local stray, but now I’m looking for my forever family to care for and love me! I love going on walks and being very active. If you want to come meet me so I can sweep you off your feet, I am available for adoption! Fluffy is a gorgeous girl who came to live at Pets Alive after being pulled from a hoarding situation. She didn’t quite know what to make of her new situation at first, but this beauty has blossomed into an attention-loving, playful, silly girl who just needs to find a home of her own! DeeDee came in as a shy little stray pup. Though initially cautious of staff, DeeDee’s warm and spunky nature came out after a few walks with some of our Pets Alive members. Just a few treats, just little bit of patience, and DeeDee will give you her heart. She is still very timid and easily startled by loud noises, but will settle in nicely after some adjustment time. Are you ready? Because Freddy is! He is ready to play, ready to cuddle, ready to go home with you! He is super friendly and just looking for his human to come take him home. He loves to play so make sure you stock up on toys before coming to get him. Oh, and he LOVES dogs! Fancy Fajita is another one of our hidden gems here. Fancy can take a little time to warm up to new people, but once she does, you have a lifelong bond. She has one of the BEST smiles, and is super smart. If you are lucky enough to land yourself in Fancy’s close circle, you are lucky enough! If you have just a little patience to let this girl warm up to you, you will not regret it. Moe was our barn cat here at Pets Alive for many years. She loved her horse and piggy buddies in the barn, but we’ve decided it’s time for her to retire. She’s moved indoors with the other kitties, and we’re hoping she’ll be able to retire to a forever home soon. She doesn’t seem to mind being indoors all that much. She loves the extra attention she’s been getting. Moe would do great in any family with plenty of love and treats to spoil her for the rest of her life. Ginger was adopted out as a puppy from Pets Alive and had a great home life until her owner tragically passed away and she came back to us. Ginger has been adjusting and making new friends and would make a great companion for someone with a quiet household. Once you break through Ginger’s barrier of shyness, she will give you kisses and snuggles like you wouldn’t believe! She prefers slow introductions to new people with treats. Harvest, like the harvest moon, is beautiful to look at but prefers to stay at arm’s length. She has a full social calendar with her feline friends (especially Donna Donor) in the piano room that she will happily clear for a human with a treat. Will you be the right person to bring this torti out of her shell?
