Explore the Artistic Charm of Greenville, SC

With its bustling art scene, picturesque parks, and sweet southern charm, it’s no surprise that Greenville is one of America’s fastest-growing cities. It’s also a great getaway location that will welcome both you and your pet with open arms.

Places to Stay

There’s no better place to stay with your pup than Aloft Greenville Downtown. Aloft’s ARF (Animals Are Fun) Program welcomes pets up to 40 lbs for no additional fee (larger dogs may be permitted upon request), and the hotel provides a dog bed, bowls, toys, and treats to all of their four-legged guests. Pups are encouraged to lounge at the hotel’s indoor/outdoor WXYZ Bar. You can even treat Fido to a puppaccino at the onsite coffee bar. In partnership with local rescue group Let ’Em Live, Aloft always has an adoptable resident pup in the lobby waiting to greet guests at check-in and find a new home.

Places to Eat

Enjoy fresh salads and authentic Neapolitan pizza with your pup at Stone Pizza Company. Pair your pie with one of the many craft beers or wines available on tap or by the bottle as you and your pup dine on the heated patio. When visiting downtown, don’t forget to make a stop at Pour Taproom. Dogs are welcome inside the bar year-round, and the staff always has a few treats and water bowls on hand for your pup. If you are hungry, Pour offers taco delivery from Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen next door. For a unique dining experience with your dog, visit Runway Cafe located at the Downtown Greenville Airport. The restaurant, which serves sandwiches, salads, and burgers, features a large pet-friendly patio where you and your dog can watch small planes take off and land.

Activities/Entertainment

A couple of must-dos include taking your pup for a walk through Falls Park and a dog-friendly mouse hunt on Main Street. Falls Park on the Reedy is located in the center of Greenville where the Reedy Falls waterfall bisects downtown. It’s the perfect spot for a morning walk, an afternoon picnic, or an evening stroll with your four-legged friend. Intrigued by the mouse hunt? Greenville’s bronze mice are hidden in plain sight along Main Street. Searching for them is a great way to exercise while taking in the sights with Fido. You’ll need to pick up a free set of clues (available at the dog-friendly Mast General Store) if you plan to find all of the Mice On Main. If your athletic dog is feeling adventurous, you can book a private dock diving lesson at Astro Kennels. Your furry friend will learn how to dock dive and enjoy swimming in the tank. For some off-leash fun, head over to Conestee Dog Park that features separate areas for big and small dogs. The dog park also features shaded areas, benches, water fountains, and dog agility equipment.

Pet Stores

Want to get your canine companion an extra special souvenir from their trip to Greenville? Head to Paw Paws USA and have them make a custom collar, paw-kerchief, or bow tie for your pup. They also sell dog beds, harnesses, blossom collar adornments, and leashes in an array of stylish fabrics.

Grooming/Vet Services

If your dog needs to get cleaned up for dinner, head to Paws & Claws, a DIY dog wash station in the Augusta Road neighborhood. If you feel like getting pampered with a new ‘do alongside your dog, make an appointment at Coiffed & Collared Hair and Fur Studio. This unique salon caters to both pets and humans in side-by-side studios where you’ll both leave looking fabulous. If you have to visit a veterinarian during your stay, call the experienced professionals at Poinsett Animal Hospital.
