Delta’s Animal Care Soars Higher

Delta’s Animal Care Soars Higher

As part of its vision of the future, Delta is focused on tech-driven solutions, and one of the latest has to do with better serving the pets that travel on its planes.

Delta has partnered with Singapore-headquartered CarePod to offer the pet technology company’s namesake pet travel carrier at eight of the airline’s U.S. locations: Atlanta (home to Delta’s headquarters), Boston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York (John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia), San Francisco and West Palm Beach, Florida.

“Continuous innovation is in Delta’s DNA, and the launch of the CarePod pet travel carrier, an industry first, is an example of us seeking out innovative partnerships and looking at ways to improve the customer experience throughout all parts of their journey,” says Shawn Cole, Delta Cargo’s vice president. “As the only airline to offer this premium pet travel solution, it represents a significant improvement for the millions of people that want to travel with their four-legged family members.”

The CarePod pet travel carrier is International Air Transport Association compliant and can accommodate cats and dogs permitted in a 300 series crate. Made with materials that are non-toxic, UV and antibacterial-treated, the carrier has a built-in hydration system that can hold up to a liter of water and multi-layered windows and doors with angled blinds. As for its tech features, the CarePod has a GPS tracking and monitoring system that connects your cat or dog’s journey to the Delta Cargo Control Center, which is staffed around the clock. Pet owners can use their cellphone to view key travel updates via deltacargo.com.

“We’re thrilled that pet owners can now vacation and fly their pets with Delta’s best-in-class CarePod solution, having the peace of mind that their pets are protected in smart pet travel carriers that are also digitally supervised by the Delta Cargo Control Center throughout the entire journey,” says Jenny Pan, founder and CEO of CarePod. “With the Delta partnership, we aim to raise the benchmark for pet air travel to allow families and pets to stay connected and travel safely together.”

A CarePod can be booked three to 13 days prior to departure by visiting deltacargo.com or by calling 1-800-352-2746.
